Ephemeral Demons – Smoke Creatures

This series of abstract smoke images came to life by simply mirroring* each smoke image resulting in Rorschach-like images which resemble surreal creatures. As the rising smoke is turbulent, these momentary glimpses of the fast moving smoke show constellations which did actually exist, frozen at an 1/8000 of a second and now left to each viewers interpretation.

Is it merely our amazing brain that interprets the symmetrical shapes as such, or are these actual visions of succubi, demons and other dark creatures?

* the original exposure is preserved – nothing has been added or removed in Photoshop.

Stephan Brauchli verewigt flüchtige Konstellationen von turbulentem Rauch mit einer Verschlusszeit von 1/8000s. Das Resultat: Portraits von Dämonen, Sukkuben und anderen surrealen Geschöpfen.

Ist es schlicht unser aussergewöhnliches Gehirn, welches die symmetrischen Formen so interpretiert, oder sind dies Manifestationen übernatürlicher Wesen?
